Joe Beninati attended SUNY Purchase for his undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts. During this time, he interned at the Loft Studios in Bronxville, NY. He had the opportunity to sit in and assist on recordings that included Richard Shindell, Larry Campbell, Bergers with Mayo, amongst other local artists that came through the studio. A couple of years later, he decided to follow his passion to pursue a music degree and attended Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where he had the opportunity to sharpen his studio engineering skills while working on his craft as a drummer.
In his 15 years of hands-on engineering, Joe has also worked as a session drummer with artists in New York, New Jersey and Maine. Having been on both sides of the recording spectrum gives Joe the advantage of knowing what the other needs during a recording session.
Joe released his own album, “Transitions” that he recorded in his home studio, played almost all of the music on and mixed which was released in 2015. His focus is to give students and musicians alike the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a musician and an engineer in a recording session. This is education that can be taken with them for use in their own home studios.
